The full title is “Under The Spreading Chestnut, I Sold You and You Sold Me.”The title is taken from George Orwell’s 1984. The painting is about realizing that the impulse towards self-preservation can kill even the strongest of relationships when people are put in dire situations. I had just re-read the book when just such a situation happened between me and someone I love. We have never been the same.
Mixed media on paper. 48″ x 60″
****I was finally able to take a better photo of this painting, so it reads more true to life now.
